Happy 4th of July, everyone! Whether you’re at the park or staying in for the day, I’ve got some fun stuff planned for you. Be safe and have a magical day!
Disneyland: Open 8AM-12AM
Disney’s California Adventure: Open 8AM-10PM
The Disneyland Story Presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln:
This used to be my favorite attraction when I worked at the parks for a lot of reasons. It’s air conditioned, it’s a gem in the park that is easy to walk right by and most importantly, the entire experience screams ‘Walt Disney.’ From the US history to animatronics to the history of the park, it’s a perfect attraction to add to your day (not to mention completely themed to 4th of July). Here’s what you can see inside!
The building is open til midnight today and the exhibit and theater is located inside the Opera House in Town Square.
When you enter, you’ll get to see the Disneyland Story exhibit. It contains a lot of magical stuff, including the following:
- A scale model of Disneyland Park as it looked on opening day, July 17, 1955
- A carousel horse from the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round
- A model of Sleeping Beauty Castle
- Rare illustrations and artwork of Disneyland attractions, including Space Mountain and theHaunted Mansion
- A scale model of Splash Mountain A display of Disneyland ticket books
- Rare, behind-the-scenes photos of Walt Disney
Once you check out the exhibit, enter the theater for a presentation of “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.”
It’s a screening presentation of photos and paintings from the Civil War and Lincoln’s life, and the presentation ends with an animatronic interpretation of Lincoln delivering a speech…and it’s AMAZING!! After you leave, you’ll feel all the feels!
I don’t know about you guys, but when I think of 4th of July, I think of the true start of summer. So here’s my top 2 rides that will give you the essence of summer in a heartbeat.
Mickey’s Fun Wheel: I absolutely love this one, and I always go for the bucket that swings. It’s kind of the best.
Silly Symphony Swings: What better way to feel summery, than going on the swings on the pier?
Alright, for today, you’re not going to have a hard time finding a red white n’ blue cupcake at Disneyland (send me one, please!), but for the rest of your food, you’ll be getting a little creative…and you’ll find that there are a ton of BBQ esque options to give you that good ol’ July 4th feeling even while eating in a theme park!
Studio Catering Co. (Disney’s California Adventure)-located in Hollywood Land
Tot-chos (tater puffs topped with cheese, chili and jalepenos)
Cherry Coke Frozen Slush
Pluto’s Dog House (Disneyland, open til 8PM)
Grab a hot dog on the go at my favorite little place in Toon Town.
If you go to Disneyland Resort just for the entertainment today, it’ll be well worth it. Here’s what the parks have to offer today!

4:20PM-Pre-parade immediately following Flag Retreat
7:00PM- 4th of July concert at Fantasyland Theater
